The scarf depicts Colchian flax, known in Laz as “Sulei.” It was in Georgia, in the caves of Chiatura, that the world’s oldest flax threads were discovered (34,000 years old).
In antiquity, the Colchians produced renowned fabrics from flax and dyed them in royal purple and sky blue.
These colors adorned the garments of Aeëtes and Medea in frescoes, emphasizing their nobility and grandeur.
